Status Update #14: February 2026
1st March 2026. I'm running a bit late with a February writing update - or any other blog post for that matter! The month passed as a bit of a whirlwind. Work is flat out, and will be until July. I'm still writing, but I'd be lying if I said my daily word count hadn't been impacted. I'm hoping for a better March. Having said that, USV#4: Odin's Hall is wrapped and with the editor, leaving me to work on a couple of USV short stories as well as continue on USV#5: Markland Afl

Status Update #13: January 2026
31st January 2026 It's been a pretty good month for writing, and I've got some great stuff done. I got a rough draft of a USV short story done, as well as some great chapters in the wrap-up of USV#4: Odin's Hall. I've also got a chunk of USV#4 text that'll be overflowing into USV#5: Markland Aflame. This means that USV#4 is heading to the editor very soon, and USV#5 is already half done. There was even another chunk of text big enough that I considered pulling it out of USV

Writing into 2026!
January 16, 2026 Today I wrapped up the revised USV#4: Odin's Hall manuscript. It'll head to the editors shortly and be out in the next few months. USV#5: Markland Aflame is already close to half done. I've also got the first draft of a short story set in Norse America, and plan to have a second one done in time for these two novels and shorts to come out, spread over a couple of months, in one big (and kind of dragged out) USV hit. For any readers who are STILL waiting, t

Status Update #12: December 2025
December has been quite the month! I flew back from Perth late in November only to come down sick. And now, at the end of the month, I'm still crook and on antibiotics. Anyway, Christmas has come and gone, and it's New Year's Eve as I type this, and thankfully, I'm getting better. Anyway, the writing continued, even if there were times (too many times) where I couldn't quite remember where I was up to, or what the key part of a scene or chapter was. I suppose that's why ther

Status Update #11 November
It's been a busy month. With Christmas ahead, it'll only get busier! I had some family matters to attend to, but I still got a lot of writing in. Thankfully, the manuscript for USV#4: Odin's Hall is now finished. It'll head to the editors shortly, leaving me free to work on USV#5: Markland Aflame . USV#5: Markland Aflame is at the halfway point. I wrote the end chapters about a year ago. One of them has already been posted on my Patreon for paid subscribers, "The Call of

Back in Perth
12 November 2025 I'm back in Perth for a couple of different family things. The heat is starting to press on the city, but not in a big way yet. The change is enough that it's clear that any chance of a slip back into wintry weather has gone. I was never a big fan of Perth's summer. Hopefully, I'll be flying back to Sydney late next week. While family stuff was the reason for the trip, and has been hectic, work has also been crazy after a few days off. All that has impacted

Status Update #10: October 2025
28th October 2025 This month feels like it has been a whirlwind of activity, but when I check my word counts, I can't quite see the work done that I expected to be there. I don't know if I'm undercounting what I've done, or if I've lost twenty or so hours into planning. The other factor is my day job. This month has been frantic with a restructure and associated great chunks of training time on top of the normal working week. I'm leaning towards losing more time than expecte
