An Update
26th July 2026 26 July 2026 The last few months have been a juggling act that has somehow been kind of successful, but not without a few hiccups and dropped balls. Work is still frantic, but it's slowly starting to calm down. There’s probably another 3 months of drama before it all falls into whatever the new normal will be. But it hasn’t just been work putting pressure on my time and eating my attention. There’s been some family health issues, as well as a pretty crook cat

USV Releases in 2026
20th June 2026 Find above the covers of this year's USV releases that tie in with (and wrap up) the Markland Settlement Saga. I've included Valkyrie of Vinland, as not all of you have seen it, and it's never been released in paperback until later this year. From September, month by month, the following will be released: The short story A Short Tale From Norse America (ASTFNA#4) A Valykie in Vinland (paperback release, ebook available now). The novel USV#4: Odin's Hall (ebo

USV Patreon Passed 70 Posts!
8th June 2026 Well, my USV Patreon is now over 70 posts old! I started posting bits of USV history on Patreon back in July 2024, so nearly 2 years ago. Since then, after posting mostly weekly(ish) posts of historical moments from the USV timeline, I've put up over 112,000 words, or about 370 novel pages! About 200 pages of that would be USV#1-3, and another 100 pages are USV#4, and the remainder are tid-bits from 1300AD to 1990AD. While there have been a few patches where th

Status Update #16: May 2026
The last few months have been a bot crazy. There have been a few highs but many more lows. Family dramd, two boiuts of viruses, a very sick cat, as well as day-job pressures as that side of things runs into the home straight for a sreies of projects that will see either victory or bloody defeat revealed at the end of September! Regardless, I'm still working through the edits of USV#4: Odin's Hall. At the same time I'm still writing new USV material and posting on Patreon. W

USV#4: Odin's Hall Update
I'm focused on the United States of Vinland this year. I've wrapped up USV#4: Odin's Hall. Now that it's going through editorial, I'm working on USV#5: Markland Aflame. I have also finished two Norse American short stories, which are just waiting for the bus to editorial. USV#5 is coming along well and is over halfway done. I'm planning for 2026 to see quite a bonanza of USV fiction! My day job has been crazy over the past four months, and will be for another four. It's not

Status Update #15: March and April 2026
Well, the past few months could have been better. Our household has had two viruses run through it to take everyone down one at a time, with the break in between filled, unfortunately, with Lewis the Burmese having two stints in cat hospital with pancreatitis and diabetes. I guess you could say that if it hasn’t been one thing, it’s been another, all following on from each other, and none of it has been good. As you can imagine, all of this has not helped me with my writing.

USV#4: Odin's Hall is in Editorial
Odin's Hall is at the editors and was sitting at 113,000 words when I sent it off. I think it's fair to say that we all know that the email with my manuscript to my editor was long overdue! It'll likely come back with a couple of thousand words of comments and also be twenty or so pages lighter than when I sent it off, but that's all part of the process. I'm glad to say a 12,000 word short will be following it soon enough. And, I think it's safe to say we're lined up for th

Status Update #14: February 2026
1st March 2026. I'm running a bit late with a February writing update - or any other blog post for that matter! The month passed as a bit of a whirlwind. Work is flat out, and will be until July. I'm still writing, but I'd be lying if I said my daily word count hadn't been impacted. I'm hoping for a better March. Having said that, USV#4: Odin's Hall is wrapped and with the editor, leaving me to work on a couple of USV short stories as well as continue on USV#5: Markland Afl

Status Update #13: January 2026
31st January 2026 It's been a pretty good month for writing, and I've got some great stuff done. I got a rough draft of a USV short story done, as well as some great chapters in the wrap-up of USV#4: Odin's Hall. I've also got a chunk of USV#4 text that'll be overflowing into USV#5: Markland Aflame. This means that USV#4 is heading to the editor very soon, and USV#5 is already half done. There was even another chunk of text big enough that I considered pulling it out of USV

Writing into 2026!
January 16, 2026 Today I wrapped up the revised USV#4: Odin's Hall manuscript. It'll head to the editors shortly and be out in the next few months. USV#5: Markland Aflame is already close to half done. I've also got the first draft of a short story set in Norse America, and plan to have a second one done in time for these two novels and shorts to come out, spread over a couple of months, in one big (and kind of dragged out) USV hit. For any readers who are STILL waiting, t
