Status Update #10: October 2025

This month feels like it has been a whirlwind of activity, but when I check my word counts, I can't quite see the work done that I expected to be there. I don't know if I'm undercounting what I've done, or if I've lost twenty or so hours into planning. The other factor is my day job. This month has been frantic with a restructure and associated great chunks of training time on top of the normal working week.

I'm leaning towards losing more time than expected to planning, which is not a negative. I'm getting close to wrapping USV#4: Odin's Hall, and as part of that, have had to do some careful plotting work to ensure a smooth story from through book 4 and then onto USV#5: Markland Aflame. I am still planning on releasing Markland Aflame quite soon after Odin's Hall. But, I most definitely want them to read as their own parts of the Markland Settlement storyline and not as one big tale split randomly down the middle.

The day job is definitely also having an impact on my time. An ownership change and several restructures over the past 18 months have tightened up resources and elevated the pressure. It is what it is.

Regardless, the writing continues.

Over October, I've completed the following:

1,000 words on blogs

13,000 words on Odin's Hall

3,000 words on the USV Patreon.

I'll be hoping for a better November.

Odin's Hall should be going to my editor in late December, with Markland Aflame following a few months later. There is some other USV stuff coming soon, too.
