27th September, 2025 September has been a busy month. It's not been as productive as I'd hoped, which happens, but I've still made good progress. This month I've worked on the following: 12,000 words for USV#4: Odin's Hall 6,000 words for my USV Patreon. I've also had two other time-hungry things I've been working on (both related to the above), one was a slight reshaping of the plot line for USV#4. This isn't a big change from what was planned, but it will impact the timeline covered in USV#4. The other issue has been that I have got a bit stuck on some of Loki's chapters in USV#4: Odin's Hall. The storyline is fine, and the chapters I've done are adequate, but they could do with a bit of activating, so I've been reworking them. My focus is on giving them more colour without blowing out the word count. In a perfect world, I'd be cutting the chapters in question down as well. There are eight of them, so it's a bit of a chunk of work. These things happen in writing. Sometimes it's just a case of characters taking on a life of their own, or the flow of the story letting the plot take an unanticipated turn. In this case, it was neither of those, but more that the chapters following the stories of other characters (in particular Trion and Rauthr) seemed faster-moving and more engaging. I know if that's how it seems to me, then it's probably going to read that way to you, so it's worth revisiting the chapters in question. Anyway, so I've been a little bogged down with Loki and Lita, but I'm nearly done with their first winter together. That's the update for now. I'll try to get back to two or three blog posts a month going forward.
